'a year in advance' is a poetry collection that contains a chunk of the poems written during my first year of poetry between the ages of 16-17 in print and handwritten form. The goal of this book is to prove that no matter what an individual goes through, they can turn those negative emotions into something positive. This book is deeply personal to me, and I tried my best to pick poems that helped to showcase my growth during these difficult times, As well as trying to achieve diversity through my selections. This book covers a wide variety of topics from depression, heartbreak, wanting, love, and worthiness while incorporating different storytelling elements.
