NBA Career

After completing his college career, Dolph Schayes was drafted by the Syracuse Nationals (now the Philadelphia 76ers) as the fourth overall pick in the 1948 Basketball Association of America (BAA) draft. Schayes played the forward position and quickly established himself as a force to be reckoned with in the National Basketball Association (NBA).

Throughout his career, which spanned from 1949 to 1964, Dolph Schayes became known for his scoring ability, rebounding prowess, and versatility on the court. He was a 12-time NBA All-Star and led the Syracuse Nationals to their first NBA championship in 1955.

Coaching Career

After retiring as a player, Dolph Schayes turned to coaching. He began his coaching career as an assistant for the Philadelphia 76ers in 1963. Schayes then served as a head coach for various teams, including the Buffalo Braves and the Utah Jazz. His coaching tenure was marked by his ability to develop young talent and instill a winning mindset in his players.

Legacy

Dolph Schayes' legacy extends far beyond his playing and coaching career. He was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1973 and was named one of the 50 Greatest Players in NBA History in 1996.
