Mathematics is one of the basic and fundamental subjects needed to be taken seriously by every student in pursuit of academic excellence.

The ground –breaking technological, scientific, business and economic advancement in most countries such as United States, Britain, Russia, Singapore, United Arab Emirates, North Korea, South Korea, China Australia, France Germany etc. is tied to their respective educational policies and preferences for mathematics education.
In Nigeria, the federal Government has mandated and empowered the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC) to re-design the curriculum of mathematics for the Senior Secondary School three (3) to include Matrices, differentiation and integration to build students confidence towards advance mathematics in the tertiary level of education. Several text have been written previously to enable students scale through the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) conducted by the West African Examination Council (WAEC), the National Examination Council (NECO), the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and other higher approved examination bodies but these text hardly adhere strictly to the NERDC current guideline.
This text, to General Mathematics is carefully written in line with the current curriculum by the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC) to equip students with the basic mathematical skills to solve problems in surds, matrices and determinant, logarithms, commercial arithmetic, simultaneous, linear and quadratic equations, graphs, area, length and volumes, geometry and trigonometry, latitude and longitudes, statistics, differentiation and integration.
